Zara - Hand woven Cotton Shawl with Zardozi embroidery
100% Hand Loomed Cotton INDIA These gorgeous shawls come to us from Baragaon Weaves in India. Beautiful soft hand loomed cotton has been used and each piece exquisitely hand embroidered in Zardozi embroidery.
The hand loomed cotton provides a sustainable and dignified income for the weavers. The fabulous Zardozi embroidery is a highly skilled craft that is rapidly dying out with the rise in fast fashion, but artisans at Baragaon are encouraged to use traditional techniques and are rewarded with a sustainable income for their skills.
Zardozi embroidery is a kind of embroidery done on a karchob adda. Traditionally this involved silver wire embroidery with embellishments, however these dupatta shawls are all made using coloured thread and beads.
