These wonderful wraps come to us from a women's charitable trust in India. This charitable trust employs several hundred women spinners and weavers from rural communities, who come from the lowest social and economic strata of India, and from highly marginalised communities. This work provides their only source of income (which is fairly paid) along with training, regular work and safe working conditions. The trust provides free schooling and health care for the weavers and their families.
The wraps are woven in natural fibres - a beautiful hand spun Mulberry Silk is combined with a Khadi Cotton and then hand woven, to produce these fabulous and unique statement pieces. Every piece is finished with a beautiful Kantha stitch along the ends and each bears the weaver's name on a story tag. The purity of the fibres and amazing weaving techniques result in a durable and "stand out" accessory.
This wrap has wonderful texture from the fabulous weave. This is an all season wrap that is cool in the summer yet cosy in the winter, and kind to skin. AZO-free dyes have been used, and each shawl bears the weaves name on a small card.
Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process. Eco friendly by virtue of the use of Khadi Cotton and being entirely hand woven, which means that the production process is environmentally friendly and creates no toxic waste.
