75% MULBERRY SILK 25% KHADI
INDIA
These wonderful scarves are handwoven by women artisans, and come to us from a women's charitable trust in India. This charitable trust employs several hundred women spinners and weavers from rural communities. These women come from the lowest social and economic strata of India; from highly marginalised communities. This work provides their only source of income (which is fairly paid) along with training, regular work and safe working conditions. The trust provides free schooling and health care for the weavers and their families.
The scarves are woven in natural fibres - a beautiful hand spun Mulberry Silk is combined with a Khadi Cotton and then hand woven, to produce these fabulous and unique statement scarves. A soft and textured weave makes this scarf easy to wear.
This scarf has wonderful texture from the fabulous weave. Each is edged with a thin Zari thread - so beautiful! This is an all season scarf, cool in the summer yet cosy in the winter, and kind to skin. AZO free dyes have been used for this scarf. Each Scarf bears the weavers name on a small card.
Any variations or irregularities are part of the design and inherent to the production process. Eco friendly by virtue of the use of Khadi Cotton and being entirely hand woven, which means that the production process is environmentally friendly and creates no toxic waste.
